WORK WITH ME

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

Feb 03, 2022

I’m starting to pick up golf again after a 20 year hiatus. I was hitting balls the other day, and my husband was reminding me of all the things you need to do to successfully hit a ball.

  • Make sure you have a proper stance.

  • Make sure your hands are properly positioned.

  • Make sure one arm is straight and your swinging arm has some bend to it.

  • Make sure you follow through on your swing.

  • …and I’m sure there’s several other steps he mentioned that I didn’t capture in this list.

I found myself checking off the list but wasn’t hitting the ball well at all. I was getting frustrated and started to think “Geez…I’ve lost my touch.”

Then, he said…”Heather – just focus on keeping your eye on the ball.” BINGO. That did the trick. I actually made contact with the ball. Finally.

I got to thinking about how we have a tendency as humans to process only so much at a time. I don’t know about you, but I can only absorb one or two pieces of information and then my brain gets overwhelmed.

I need information synthesized and simply communicated in one (no more than two) easy step.

In other words, what is the ONE main point you need to communicate? Keeping things simple requires a lot of thought work. A good leader will take multiple steps, synthesize the information and arrive at one coherent conclusion – that one idea that makes a big impact.
