Mastering Your Messaging

If you own your own business, your number one priority is to make money.

You’ve got bills to pay, people who are counting on you and things you want to do in this life that cost money, right?

In order to sell whatever it is you have to sell, you have got to know how to message to people who will buy from you on repeat.

Here’s the catch though…. In order to sell to these people, you have to set aside your natural tendencies to communicate with them in the same manner as you would want someone to communicate with you.

This happens allllll the time, ya’ll.

There are three things I want you to consider about your perfect client BEFORE you send that email or post on social media:

  1. Describe your perfect client in detail. Think about the one person who you really enjoyed working with. What was his/her name?? What are some details about them (Kids? Married? Car? Designer purse or not?)?
  2. Define your perfect client’s “why”? Why did they buy from you? What was their story? What pain were they experiencing that led them to buy from you?
  3. How does your perfect client want to receive information? Do they need a lot of information? Did they only need bullet points? Did they ask for testimonials? Did they want to know about your process to achieve the result? What kinds of questions did they ask you?

Most business owners gloss over digging in deep on these questions because it seems frivolous. But, let me assure you that it is not.

When you don’t have a clear understanding of who you’re trying to sell to specifically…that’s a huge gap and you’ll miss out on connecting with the perfect client regularly.

Sure…you can sell to whomever you want…of course. But, if you want to sell your product or service to people who truly align with your values, you’ve got to spend some time thinking about who your person is, their why and how they want to receive information.
